ABOUT THE PRODUCT
Cotton is a popular natural crop. The material has a lovely fine textured weave which is super for intricate artworks. We have GOTS Organic or Recycled cotton options as well as standard virgin material.
Any size or colour of bag is possible, with lots of handle choices and a huge array of printing techniques to suit every bespoke project. It takes time to produce the perfect bag, so fast delivery of complex bags isn’t possible. If you need a speedy turnaround we have a large stock of coloured and natural cotton, GOTS and canvas carriers that we can overprint quickly with a simple design.
PRINTING OPTIONS
The bags are usually screen printed. We will flash a white layer below any printed design when we print on to coloured material. This helps the colours within your design stay vibrant. The inks used are always eco-friendly. Our factories can print one or both faces of the bags and if there is a side gusset, we can print that too on bespoke orders.
There isn’t a print area restriction for bespoke orders but for the fast delivery overprinted bags we need to stick inside a 28cm x 28cm area and print centrally on the bag face, away from the seams.

SIZES
Popular sizes include 38cm wide x 42cm high for a standard cotton shopper or 38cm wide x 10cm side / base gusset x 42cm high for a heavier gusseted canvas bag, but any size is possible if you opt for our bespoke carrier bags where they are made just for you.
FINISHING TOUCHES
The bags can be tailored to suit your exact needs and include extras such as:
- Short or long looped handles, rope, cotton stuffed, leatherette or bamboo cane handles.
- A gift card tag with barcode for easy retailing / resale fixed with cotton thread or ribbon (plastic barbs best avoided).
- Internal pockets
- Zips and Velcro, High viz reflective strips
- Internal lamination for a more rigid bag.
- Metal studs to close the top of the bag
- Embroidery
- Internal base cards to reinforce the bottom
MINIMUM ORDER (MOQ)
Bespoke made to order bags MOQ starts at 250 bags.
Overprinted stock bags MOQ starts at 100 bags.
DELIVERY TIMESCALE
For the bespoke made to order carrier bags, its best to allow 8 -10 weeks for European supply or for the lowest price and best quality our Indian factories offer 18-20 weeks approx. Always allow up to 3 weeks for a sample bag, this is outwith the quoted lead times.
For our overprinted stock carrier bags please allow 7-10 working days however tight deadlines can also be accommodated. Just let us know your delivery requirements when you make your enquiry below.
ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS
Cotton is an iconic environmentally sound choice. We have taken this a step further by introducing GOTS certified Organic cotton and also a wonderful mixed fibre recycled cotton. While GOTS certified cotton carries a premium cost, the recycled cotton is a great low budget alternative and looks beautiful once printed. The recycled material is off white and can’t be dyed. GOTS certified cotton can be dyed but loses it’s GOTS status once dyed, even although the dye is vegetable based.
All ESC Packaging partner factories are long standing and well established manufacturers, audited to SEDEX standard or equivalent. This gives you and ESC the added peace of mind that our factories offer ethical and moral production to the highest standards. While the bags are imported we are careful to choose sea and train routes to our local port, Grangemouth, and we try to consolidate orders so they don’t travel alone. This helps to keep the carbon footprint as low as possible. We do occasionally air courier orders in but we try to minimise this as much as possible.
